HR Business Partner

Our Human Resources team is focused on growing and developing our business and people by providing proactive operational and strategic support to our various lines of business and corporate functions. We achieve this in part by taking a customer-centric approach to our people activities, looking to add value to our customers’ operations wherever possible, whilst developing and managing the ongoing relationships with existing and potential new customers.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Business Partner (HR BP) for Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland to join our international HR team.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer and with a customer-centric focus, the HR Business Partner will play a key role in supporting local leaders and management in meeting CHAMP’s business objectives across Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland. S/he will do this by proactively implementing strategic and tactical human resources plans that support and enhance CHAMP’s people processes, policies and programs and foster a high-performance culture. This includes talent retention, engagement, and development, along with adherence to local legislative requirements. As a business partner, s/he will proactively assess and anticipate HR-related needs, developing solutions that not only address local requirements but also support the overall global HR agenda within the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a full spectrum of both strategic and tactical HR support and programs to employees and managers across Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland
  • Partner with local management to proactively understand organizational objectives and identify human resources trends, issues, and opportunities. Determine options and make recommendations to senior management on how to best address these and drive business performance and employee engagement. Implement agreed actions, providing coaching, guidance, training, change management, and support tools, as required
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks. Advise on and ensure compliance with employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices within each country. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Support talent acquisition, onboarding, and workforce planning to ensure the business attracts, retains, and develops top talent in each market.
  • Collaborate and ensure effective communication with the Payroll & Benefits team on different topics: new joiners/leavers, update of benefits, update and communication of policies, changes in benefits scheme, salary reviews, and performance bonus preparation, etc.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc.). Support the Chief People Officer in the delivery of the performance management process, including the annual review process and performance management training.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations cases such as disciplinary, grievance, absence management issues, and terminations. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations when required
  • Lead and/or support organizational initiatives, including business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management, ensuring alignment with local legal frameworks and company values
  • Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met. Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching or mentoring needs. For LUX only: prepare the yearly training report for INFPC.
  • Work closely with management, social partners (staff delegation, works council), and employees to continuously improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Support HR analytics activities (e.g. employee headcount, attrition, statistics, training hours). Analyze HR trends and metrics in partnership with the Chief People Officer and develop solutions, programs and policies to address business and/or legal requirements
  • Lead or support any ad-hoc local and/or global HR Projects which may be assigned to you by the Chief People Officer.
  • Support local social committees (PEP) and relay locally the global ESG initiatives when requested


Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relations at different levels across the organization
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and advise where appropriate to help employees and managers grow and develop in alignment with business and personal goals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify performance gaps and to recommend effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills, including influencing to support change and innovation
  • Strong judgment with demonstrated ability to balance company needs while partnering with managers and employees
  • Strong knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and labor law.
  • Strong knowledge of local labor law, regulations, and employment practices for Luxembourg and Germany required (knowledge of Switzerland labor law considered an asset)
  • Well-developed negotiation skills with a persuasive and convincing nature
  • Ability to create presence and to apply advocacy skills to position HR as a partner in implementing business strategies and objectives
  • Good understanding of HR analytics and workforce planning
  • Resourceful, proactive, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • Minimum 8 years progressive HR experience, ideally in a multinational environment
  • Experience managing complex employee relations issues
  • Experience with change management, continuous process improvement, employee engagement and team effectiveness
  • Fluency in English and at least one local language (German or French) required; additional language skills are a strong advantage.
