Lead Software Engineer

Reporting to Director of SWE and Quality Processes

Location:   Europe 

While Spain is the preferred location for this role, we embrace a flexible approach and welcome applications from talented professionals based in the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, subject to local employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight, leadership, and mentorship to development teams; ensure adherence to software engineering methodology, standards, and code quality practices.
  • Translate design specifications into clean, maintainable code; perform multi-role duties across system analysis, design, programming, testing, and technical support.
  • closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, Team Leads, Business Analysts, and Technical Support to deliver integrated solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Champion code quality, perform/assist in unit test execution, and prepare thorough technical project documentation.
  • Participate in system migration planning and execution; provide on-site or off-site support for production systems.
  • Ensure all active programs, project updates, and technical issues are accurately reflected in status reports.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep competence in Java coding best practices, design patterns, and REST APIs. Expertise in Spring Boot, JPA, XML, Swing, RMI, Hibernate, EJB, Angular, Ionic, IBM MQ, or Kafka is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL database management, including Oracle DBMS, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong operational understanding of Scrum, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, accompanied by strong interpersonal skills and fluent English language communication (written and spoken).

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in Java development.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Lead Developer or Technical Lead role.
  • Experience utilizing tools such as SVN, Tortoise, Eclipse, Maven, Ant, Ansible, Gitlab, or Bamboo across Linux, Windows, and AWS environments.

 

The selected candidate may be subject to the provision of an up-to-date (not older than 3 months)  criminal record certificate.
