The Senior Project Manager will drive various complex project initiatives that meets the needs of our diverse customer base in a fast-paced environment with colleagues and customers located worldwide. Success in this role means you are exceptionally attentive to detail. The role is skilled at forecasting and planning deliverables, milestones and tasks activities. Possess strong influencing skills and enjoy working with others of diverse backgrounds.
Accountable for the delivery and the commercial outcome of the largest and most complex engagements in the portfolio, and for the development of the project management capability around them.

Responsibilities :

Managing programs and/or projects - Program and project sizes will vary in scope and complexity. Will efficiently and effectively manage project workload throughout its life cycle - from bidding and inception through project closure. Will build business cases and develop capacity plans. Will control change, mitigate risks, and deliver results as committed. Regularly track project activities against plan schedules and take corrective action against any deviations. Exceptional attention to detail, effective time management and influencing people skills are key ingredients to be successful in managing projects.
- Working with project teams - Every program or project is completed through team effort. Work effectively with team members. Will easily and effectively communicate and negotiate up and down the organizational hierarchy. Communication activities cover team members, management, stakeholders and customers alike frequently ensuring that there is continuous understanding and alignment regarding project progress.
- Working with customers – Committed to putting the customer first. As a result, you proactively work with the customers and their teams to ensure that each project goal and objective is met with satisfaction.
- Project Management administration –ability to write clearly and simply are key skills to documenting project activities. Documentation ranges from developing communications strategy plans, designing resource and project plans, providing status reports, submitting, and tracking change requests, tracking risks and issues, providing variance reports to providing Steering Committee reports and lessons learned. Accuracy is key.
- Take responsibility for the commercial outcome of an engagement as well as its delivery: margin, forecast to completion, and the revenue and cash consequences of every schedule decision.
- Build and defend the estimate and resourcing basis on which a commitment to a customer is made and be held to that commitment once made.
- Secure the partner base for the engagement: resource readiness, and partner commercial terms consistent with the obligations accepted towards the customer.
- Direct delivery where part of the build and test capacity is contracted, holding suppliers to deliverables and to the terms agreed with them.
- Plan and lead the transition of a delivered solution into an operational support organization and remain accountable until it is running.
- Take over and recover engagements in difficulty: re-baseline, reset expectations, and restore a plan that can be defended to the customer and internally.
- Act as escalation point for project managers and associate project managers; coach them, give direct feedback, and review their work.
- Contribute lessons and reusable material back to the department so that the next engagement is estimated better than the last.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Have exceptional understanding of project management methodologies and the project life cycle.
- Can demonstrate attention to detail, strong writing ability and solid oration and follow up skills.
- Domain: air cargo operational literacy to challenge a plan, an estimate or a readiness claim rather than relay it.
- Commercial construction: understands how an estimate becomes a price and a risk position, and what a change is worth.
- Financial control: forecasts to completion and explains variance by cause.
- Dependency management: drives outcomes through organizations and without direct authority.
- Executive credibility: holds standing with customer executives and with a product organization simultaneously.
- Leadership: mentors, coaches and develop project managers without absorbing their work.
- Resilience: holds a position under commercial and customer pressure.
- Excellence: reporting is a read of reality; problems are reported as promptly as progress.
Education & Experience:
- University degree or equivalent
- Formal project management training or certification
- Risk management training desirable.
- Have a track record of success in managing multiple projects and programs including budgets and deliverables within a commercial environment.
- Have experience speaking in front of customers and various leadership levels.
- Have experience with an IT solutions or airline industry solutions provider.
- Participation in all phases of at least three full software implementation lifecycles, of large projects.
- Experience of back-to-back subcontract terms with delivery partners.
- Air cargo, airline or logistics operational environment.
