The Technical Architect is responsible for developing architecture frameworks, ensuring system scalability and security, collaborating with stakeholders, and selecting appropriate technologies to ensure projects are aligned with business goals.

He/she will collaborate with our technical experts (network, storage, system), with senior architects/ project managers/ product owners, team leaders, business analysts, technical support, and other software engineers involved with the development of integrated solutions or other application systems.

He/she will be responsible for creating the infrastructure architecture design and documentation for a solution. He/she will assist with all the projects in CHAMP requiring a change to the technical infrastructure. The design documentation (usually a Microsoft Visio drawing) will contain information on the different components of the solution, such as IP subnets (prod/non-prod/internal), the load balancers, the servers, the firewalls, the routers, the VPN devices, the databases, the interconnectivity, etc.

He/she will be responsible for providing the costs for the infrastructure within the design documentation. The solution might be provided on hybrid clouds, either in our datacenters in Luxembourg and/or in other clouds (mainly AWS and Azure). The technical Architect will be responsible for selecting the correct sizing for the servers, resources, and the connectivity links while always considering the business needs and costs.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Become part of the Technical Architecture & Monitoring Team to provide the service to the entire CHAMP users.
  • Create and maintain the infrastructure architecture design documentation.
  • Regularly update the design drawings on request or in case of detection of any change on the infrastructure.
  • Provide infrastructure costs for the solutions hosted in clouds.
  • Regularly refresh costs to support contract renewals and architecture changes.
  • Make sure CHAMP Enterprise Architecture policy is applied to the solution designed.
  • Document Architecture changes when submitted to the CHAMP Architecture Advisory Board.
  • Work with our network team to select proper components, load balancer configuration, network connectivity, DNS names, and assign IP addresses and subnets.
  • Define with Monitoring team the checks to apply to each component of the technical solution. Define and develop new checks if needed.
  • Characterize existing applications and create related monitoring checks.
  • Quality control and continuous review of architecture in place.
  • Management / support / troubleshooting of our IT asset inventory tool and the integration with our ITSM tool.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Teamwork and collaboration with other technical and non-technical teams
  • Knowledge and experience in Networking. Networking level as required by CCNA and/or CCNP certifications
  • Understanding common network protocols (TCP/IP, Routing – OSPF, BGP)
  • Advanced networking skills (IP addressing, routing, switching)
  • Knowledge and experience in system monitoring tools and principles
  • Knowledge and experience in application monitoring tools and principles
  • Administration of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux
  • Scripting experience with common programming languages (Linux shell, Perl, PowerShell)
  • Understanding of common protocols like SNMP, WMI, HTTP, SMTP, POP3, TCP handshake
  • Understanding of SQL query language to create ad-hoc monitoring or reports based on queries
  • Knowledge of ITIL and ITSM tools like ServiceNow
  • Service and customer-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Autonomous, flexible with working hours
  • Project management skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ working experience as a system or network engineer or infrastructure architect
  • Experienced with AWS technologies (EC2, VPC, ELB, RDS, CloudFormation, etc.) and Azure Cloud.
  • Overall knowledge in the TOGAF framework or equivalent and ISO27001 principles
  • Excellent English and written communication skills
