Data Scientist

Reporting to Business Intelligence Manager

We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team and help us shape the next generation of ML-powered products.

 

Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, you will participate in the construction of new AI and machine learning-based services. CHAMP launched its first 100% AI-based product in 2023 and is expanding its portfolio by integrating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities into both existing products and new solutions, helping customers improve automation, decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer experience while capitalizing on CHAMP’s market leader position.

Responsibilities

  • Translate functional requirements into machine learning deliverables
  • Create and maintain datasets and models over time
  • Be able to prototype solutions.
  • Be a team player, collaborate with both external and internal parties to develop and support CHAMP’s activities.
  • Actively explore new technological opportunities.
  • Listen to our customers, contribute to driving evolutions and improvements of our solutions.
  • Liaise with the BI team to get the datasets created, fed and maintained to ensure the proper functioning of the machine learning models
  • Support the development of new data products.
  • Provide expertise for, advice on and demonstrations of our ML solutions to both internal and external parties.
  • Deliver working solutions on time, on cost, and on specifications.
  • Ethics and Privacy: ensure ethical use of data and models by Implementing privacy-preserving techniques and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document processes, methodologies, and project outcomes comprehensively.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning, with the ability to design, train, validate, deploy, and maintain models for real business use cases.
  • Product mindset, with the ability to understand customer needs, business value, product impact, and how AI and ML capabilities can be translated into practical product features.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making, with the ability to interpret data, challenge assumptions, measure outcomes, and recommend actions based on evidence.
  • Good understanding of data preparation, feature engineering, model evaluation, explainability, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience with predictive modelling techniques, including XGBoost and other relevant algorithms, with the ability to fine-tune models to improve accuracy, robustness, and business relevance.
  • Experience working with SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or similar technologies to prepare reliable ML-ready datasets.
  • Practical knowledge of MLOps and product integration, including APIs, version control, testing, CI/CD, model deployment, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Ability to use AI tools effectively to accelerate development, research, prototyping, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous learning while applying sound engineering judgement.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in ML development.
  • A plus: prior experience in a startup.

The selected candidate may be subject to the provision of an up-to-date (not older than 3 months) criminal record certificate.
