The Premier, Xavier Bettel visits the global leader in air cargo IT solutions to discuss global business development for Luxembourg

Luxembourg, 2 December 2019 – The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel visited the headquarters of CHAMP Cargosystems to mark the Luxembourg-based company’s crystal anniversary.  The Premier, who was joined by his advisor, Mrs. Anouk Agnes, discussed with CHAMP current topics, such as cyber security risks and how to develop further the digitalization impact of the country.

The delegation was welcomed by Arnaud Lambert, CEO of CHAMP Cargosystems and members of CHAMP’s Executive Committee, as well as by shareholder representatives - Richard Forson and Maxim Straus – CEO and CFO of Cargolux Airlines. The two-hour visit resulted in a fruitful exchange, during which the Premier learned about CHAMP’s history, solutions, mission, objectives, and plans for future.

As key branches of the Luxembourgish and global economies, the Authorities explored strategic synergies in logistics and IT industries. As a leading solutions provider to world famous airlines, ground handlers and freight forwarders, sourced out of its Luxembourg datacentres, CHAMP was keen to share its knowledge with the Prime Minister. Inspired by showcases on Innovation, sustainability, e-Commerce and investments in the IT sector, the Prime Minister offered his support for further business development abroad.

The meeting also addressed the importance of collaboration between the business players and the Government in the field of discovering and recruiting new IT talents and tackling issues in the challenging area of cyber security. For that the IT security department of CHAMP is already actively collaborating with the High Commissioner for National Protection, Mr. Luc Feller.

The Premier and CEO agreed that the Ministries and business can be excellent partners in tackling mutual challenges such as the digitalization of the economy. The Delegation of the Prime Minister and the participants of the strategic meeting toured the offices and greeted employees from more than 40 nationalities, creating a practical example of multi-cultural diversity. The event ended with a Crémant toast - together with all CHAMPions based in Luxembourg.
