Air Atlanta Icelandic on efficient load planning with Cargospot Weight & Balance

I am Florian Mooijaart. I work for Air Atlanta Icelandic and Air Atlanta Europe, and I am a flying loadmaster and a CHAMP Weight & Balance instructor.

The CHAMP Weight & Balance module made our life a lot easier, actually. I mean, before we had CHAMP, before we had the [Cargospot] Weight & Balance module, we did everything by hand.

Of course, we had an Excel cheat sheet, so we get a pallet list from the handler, we put it in Excel, but of course, after that, after we give the ground handling agent a loading instruction, we still have to write everything by hand, and that takes twenty, thirty minutes.

And if you mess something up, you miss a digit, or worst case scenario, a pallet has to be offloaded or something has to be changed, you have to do it again.

And that's another twenty, thirty minutes on a pretty hectic schedule already.

Because you have to supervise the loading or load it yourself, write for half an hour, check everything, and then, if you have to do it again, it takes another thirty minutes out of, out of your day.

So now with CHAMP, it's very easy. We put everything in CHAMP, we create a load plan, load sheet, or well, load plan, we give it to the handler.

If we have to change something, no problem. We drag and drop it to the correct position. If we have to change something, two, three seconds, it's done, and when we get the crew on board, we ask them, "Okay, you have the fuel figures," we put it in, and we print it out, and that's a two-minute job.

Well, it's turned into a two-minute job from twenty, thirty minutes. So it made our life great. It's, it's nice because we operate two different types, and if we would have a manual load planner or load sheet, it's always a difference. There's always a different calculation or a different format, and with CHAMP, everything's the same.

Of course, the aircraft layout is different, but all the functionality remains the same, so you train people for one product, and you give them a lesson, or you give them a training on, okay, these are the differences between the different aircraft, but that's all you have to do.

So also training-wise, it's just a lot easier. CHAMP has a lot of experience in the cargo, business, and CHAMP really knows what they're doing. They've... CHAMP has good products and a lot of aircraft in there. If it's not put-- If the aircraft, the people are not using is not in there, there's always still a way to get it in there.

We recently implemented a new aircraft type ourselves, and it was-- Yeah, we're the second customer of that aircraft. It wasn't in CHAMP yet, and CHAMP put it in there, and it works fine. It works great. So I can definitely recommend CHAMP. The new aircraft type is the 777-300 extended range special freighter (ERSF) so the, converted 777-300.

With CHAMP, it was very easy. Luckily, we were not the first customer, but still they thought with us, they knew, okay, this is what we need to do, and they... and CHAMP basically did everything they could to help us in every way possible. Working with the CHAMP team is great.

We have a, we have, yeah, we have contact. If we need something, we send an email to them, and it's fixed very, very quick, and they're always willing to help us. If we have any questions, if we're thinking of new ideas, we can always throw out a line, see what they think about it, and if it's feasible, they will help us, and if it's not feasible, they will also tell us, "Listen, we want to help you, but unfortunately, for now, it's not possible." So they're very, very good in that aspect.
